Hard to believe, but it’s time for us to be considering nominees for next year’s Board. This year’s Nominating Committee is being chaired by Director, Bob Danner. Past President, Vickie Berry is assisting but another member or two is needed to interview and develop the slate of candidates. If you’re interested in joining the committee, filling an open slot or have any ideas for candidates, let us know.

NOTICE
Please don’t drop off materials at the Shop or Shed without notification
There have been several instances where members or others have dropped off apparently unwanted tools and/or materials at the Faust Park Shop and at the Shed without proper notifications.
Please note that any dropoffs should first be run by David Gronefeld, Wayne Humphrey, Tom Tierney, or Bob Baird so that they can determine what the final disposition should be. Any items dropped off without notification are subject to being discarded as trash or fuel for the wood stove.

Toy Committee Update
If you need supplies (wood, dowels, wheels, pins, etc.) please don’t let that stand in your way of making toys 😊. Reach out to Bob or Wayne, and we will let you into the shed to look around for what you need.
We have lots of patterns for toys of every kind. Contact me, and I will share them with you. Link to Toy Program on our website which includes toy patterns.
Please contact a committee member with any comments or suggestions you may have for the program and thank you to all who have built toys and contributed to this important program.

Tom will NOT have wood or kits to distribute at this month’s meeting
|
|
|
|
|
September Recap:
- Monthly Deliveries: Sixteen tables were delivered in September (7 dinette and 9 end tables).
- Year-to-Date Progress: We delivered 119 tables in the first 6 months of the fiscal year, achieving 72.1% of our annual goal of 165 tables.
- Average Monthly Deliveries: 19.8 tables.
- Program Total: 690 tables have been donated since the program began in April 2022.
Member Contribution Highlights:
- Ten members have contributed 5+ tables with Hal Donovan contributing 10+, Charles Schrock 15+, and Tom Tierney 20+.
- Doug LaRico contributed 2 dinette tables in September and Tom Tierney contributed 5.
- Brian Ellison contributed 2 end tables at last month’s meeting.
Other News and Highlights:
- We will pick up wood from Jay Noffsinger on October 13. This will be his final wood contribution to the program. We thank Jay for his generosity and support over the last four years.
- A Shop workday will be scheduled soon to process the rough-sawn lumber we collect at Jay’s along with the lumber in the corner of the shed.
- A big thanks goes to Wayne Humphrey and crew for organizing the shed.
- All small table kits have been distributed.
- HSH’s inventory of our tables is down to one or two small tables, zero coffee tables, and zero dinette tables.
- HSH is grateful for the small tables we donate. However, since they can maintain an adequate supply of small tables from the public, they tell me they really need coffee and dinette tables. We need to consider ways to address this need while providing an option for less experienced members to participate.
Thank you to all who participate in the program.
Please continue to contribute to the Guild, especially the Outreach Programs.
Get involved. I promise you, you will be amazed at the knowledge, character, and goodness of your fellow Members.

If you are a current or retired Boeing employee you can contribute to the St. Louis Woodworker’s guild through the Boeing Gift Match program. The guild is now an approved charitable organization with the Boeing program. As an employee participant, your donation of $25.00 USD or more or the equivalent volunteer hours of 25 hours or more will be matched 1:1 by Boeing. The maximum individual contribution is $6,000.00 or 6,000 volunteer hours. Your contribution is tax deductible as long as you follow three simple steps:
Step 1: Eligible Boeing employees or retirees first make a contribution directly to the guild
Step 2: After making your donation go to Total Access and click on My Community Giving – GIVE – Gift Match on the Boeing Gift Match page.
Step 3: Register your donation whether it’s monetary or volunteer hours and select The St. Louis Woodworker’s Guild and enter the total amount and the date of the contribution.
It’s that easy, you get a great tax break and it benefits the guild directly. If you have any questions, please email Bob Coulter at president@slwg.org and if I don’t know the answer, I will try to find it for you.
