Toy Pattern: Girl in Gown

Tools

  • Band Saw or Scroll saw
  • Sanders – Disc, Belt or Oscilating Spindle
  • Router with 1/8″ or 1/4″ round over bit
  • Drill Press
  • Sand paper or emery boards

Material

  • 1/2″ thick solid wood or plywood.
  • 1/4″ plywood or hardboard

Instructions

  1. Make pattern from print of Girl with Gown by gluing to a piece of cardboard or hardboard. Cut pattern to shape.
  2. Draw shape on wood surfaces.
  3. Drill 1/4″ hole for eye.
  4. Saw body from 1/2″ lumber (sand sides smooth) or plywood. Fill any voids, cracks or knot holes with filler.
  5. Round over edges with 1/8″ or ¼” router bit.
  6. Sand edges to remove roughness.
  7. Saw arms and hair from 1/4″ plywood.
  8. Round over edges with 1/8″ router bit. Sand edges to remove roughness.
  9. Saw gown from 1/2″ wood or plywood.
  10. Round over edges with 1/8″ or ¼” router bit.
  11. Sand edges to remove roughness.
  12. Glue hair, arms and gown to body.
  13. Rub your hands over the entire vehicle to make sure there are not sharp edges or points. Remove with sandpaper if any are found.
