THIS IS A PLACEHOLDER FOR THE 2ND DAY OF THIS CLASS.  REGISTRATION FOR DAY 2 IS AUTOMICALLY DONE WHEN YOU REGISTER FOR DAY 1.

Description: This class will cover how to make and inlay typical banding associated with the Federal Period.  Students will learn how to make a Federal Style Fan inlay. The class will cover how to cut the inlay field for banding/inlay, sand shading techniques, and how to arrange quarter, half and full fan inlays used in Federal Furniture. Time permitting the class will also discuss how to make and inlay other types of Federal elements such as Bellfowers and Patarae.

Scheduling Note:  This is a 2 day class.  By registering for Day 1 which will be Sunday, November 24, you will automatically be registered for Day 2 which will be Saturday, November 30. There will be a Lunch Break of 1 hour each day.

Prerequisites: Guild Safety Class

Tools that students are expected to bring to class: The student will need to bring a selection of tools.

     #8/13 mm carving gouge

    ¼” & ½” Bench Chisels and either ¾” or 1” Bench Chisel,

    12 to 18 inch Straight Edge,

    Small Router Plane,

    X-Acto Knife with a #11 Blade,

    Compass,

    Blue Painter’s Tape.


Materials and supplies that will be provided by the Guild:  
A selection of veneer and suitable substrate materials for the students to use.  All of the sand shading materials and hide glue that will be used in class.

Any information that the student needs to send to the instructor before class starts:  If a student isn’t able to bring any or all of the tools, please let the instructor know as he may have extras that can be made available.
