Instructor: Steve Botkin

Description:  Students will learn the safety and basic cuts used in carving. The students will have a choice of  2 projects to work on.  Depending on student’s skill, they will have an opportunity to do both.

Prerequisites:  Safety Class

Materials and supplies that students are expected to bring to class:  Each student will be required to have a fillet glove similar to this:  https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Fishing-Fillet-Glove-Gray/55503825?from=/search

Materials that will be provided by the Guild:  A thumb guard and all knives required will be provided along with the wood for carving a “boot”.

Start Time. Sharpening student owned knives will start at 9:00am, class will start at 9:30 am

Lunch break:   Yes, bring a sandwich and drink

Other items Students need to bring to class such as tools:  If students have a carving knife and they want to use it, then bring it at 9:00 AM so that it can be sharpened.

Information that the student needs to send to the instructor before class starts:  If they have carved already, then please send pictures of what they have done to steve@botkin.ws.
