Prerequisites: Guild Safety Class

Materials and supplies that attendees are expected to bring:   None

Schedule:  8:30 am until 4:00 pm.  Half hour for lunch.

Materials that will be furnished by the Guild: All lumber, glue and screws will be furnished by the Guild. Materials are 4/4s and 5/4s either pine, poplar, cedar or pressure treated. Templates for cutting the components of the chair.  Send an email to wschuchat@gmail.com when you sign up for the class indicating what material you want to use.  With the cost of wood having risen so high, each student will have to pay for the wood he/she chooses to use.  I am estimating that the cost of Cedar will be about $125.00 and for pine will be about $70 (in addition to the class fee of $50.00)”.  We will handle the reimbursement for these materials by setting up a “materials registration” on the website in September and will indicate a cost for each material at that time.

Class description: This is a 2 day class to build an Adirondack Chair from plans in the 2006 edition of Popular Mechanics. We will modify the original design per criteria that Michael Fortune presented at the Guild meeting in October, 2020, to make it much easier to get out of the chair.  It will be just as relaxing to sit in as the original design. Chairs will be unfinished; attendees can finish them following class if desired.
