Description: The Class will be a demonstration of turning; how to mount the wood on the lathe, the tools for turning, and basic finishing and safety. We will look at small projects (like pens), spindle turning and bowl turning. The students will be given an opportunity to try the tools on these different projects if they are comfortable doing so. My goal is to make turning enjoyable for the students.
Prerequisites: Safety Class
Materials and supplies that students are expected to bring to class: None
Materials that will be provided by the Guild: Turning blanks and examples.
Other items Students need to bring to class such as tools: Hearing and Eye protection.and a face shield if you have one.
Any information that the student needs to send to the instructor before class starts: If there are any specific Turning Techniques you want to have demonstrated, or to try yourself, please send me an email.
