SWAP MEET

The St. Louis Woodworkers Guild is hosting a woodworker’s swap meet in Faust Park near the Guild’s shop location. Members of the Woodworkers Guild are encouraged to buy, sell, or swap items. The event will not be open to the public.
- There is no fee for members to participate
- The Guild will not have any involvement in any transaction between members Participants should bring cash or checks
- The Guild will provide no tables
- All parking must be on the hard surfaces
- All items must be removed from the area by 1:00 pm
Guild Used Equipment For Sale
The Guild will be taking bids to sell the Guild Shop’s Grizzly 15” planer. It has been properly maintained. This item will need to be removed by 1:00 pm. The Planer has a reserve bid of $1000. The Guild will accept cash or check for payment. Loading assistance can be provided.

Super Star Weekend

Our annual Super Star Weekend happened as planned this year on Saturday, April 22 and was a great success, with a good group attending and an engaging presenter. 32 Members attended the event.
This event was conceived and managed by Dan Lender with several members helping out under his leadership. Members assisting in the equipment moving and setup included Tom Tierney, Phil Morton, Joe Turner, Mark Zupec, Ron Romitti, and Mark Hatton. Adam Conners took pictures documenting the event.
Below are a few of the photos from the event. Tom and his wife, Kris, his camera lady, did an outstanding job of presentation so that the detail of how he worked was shown on the large digital screen, and Tom kept up an engaging banter throughout the presentation. Fifth graders assembled 75 toy kits to make Train Engines, Airplanes, Road Graders, Trucks and Front End Loaders. Three teachers and parents supervised and nine Guild Members provided technical assistance. |

SEPTEMBER Picnic and Tour
The annual picnic is scheduled for September 9 at Faust Park Picnic Area #2 and has been posted to the website. The picnic will begin at 11:30 AM. The park is on Olive Blvd north of I-64/US 40. Our reserved picnic area is the #2 picnic area. Parking is available on the east side of the park.
A tour of the historic buildings at the Faust Park will begin at 1:00 PM.
The guild will provide the main course (fried chicken), drinks, and paper products. Please bring a covered dish of your own to share. You may also want to bring fold-up chairs. Please register for this event so we know how much food to have.

| There wasn’t a coat closet in my vintage 1907 house and I didn’t want to get into building one, so I built this armoire as a substitute. We had a lot of stained wood trim that was rather dark in the adjacent room, and we wanted this piece to not appear as massive as it was, so we applied a painted finish to match the walls, put mirrors in the doors, and my wife stenciled a couple of ginkgo leaves at the base.

CHRISTMAS TOY PROGRAM
We continue to work on Christmas toys and meet at the shop on the first and third Fridays of the month.
So far everything we are working on is coming out of donated wood. We could use some 2×8’s and 2×10’s for some Pull Toy projects. Any pieces over a foot long would be welcome. If over 8 feet long, they need to be cut down for easy storage.

Toy Committee Update
Toy production moves along, but we need more. We had a good selection of toys collected at the April meeting but our hospital partners are starting to increase their requests, and our inventory of toys in the shed is starting to go down.
All woodworkers should be aware that we are donating these toys for children and that all toy donations must be fully sanded with NO splinters or sharp edges — ready for a final finish.
Call me if you need toy parts and I will bring them to the meeting for pickup.

Faust Park Workshop Information
|

Important Notice from the SLWG Board regarding the Faust Park Shop
The Faust Park Shop is open only to SLWG members who have completed their Safety Training. Minimum age for membership in the Guild is 16 years old. Children less than 16 cannot be Members and therefore are not allowed in the shop under any circumstances. Shop Monitors are authorized to enforce this major safety and liability issue. |

|
- To participate in the Workshop Safety Class or use the shop, you must have paid the current year Guild dues and have your current membership card with appropriate marking.
- To use the Guild Workshop during open hours, you must have passed a Workshop Safety Class.
|

The guild is now an approved charitable organization with the Boeing program. As an employee participant, your donation of $25.00 USD or more or the equivalent volunteer hours of 25 hours or more will be matched 1:1 by Boeing. The maximum individual contribution is $6,000.00 or 6,000 volunteer hours. Your contribution is tax deductible as long as you follow three simple steps:
Step 1: Eligible Boeing employees or retirees first make a contribution directly to the guild
